Yesterday....

Little Bit (our pet name for Scarlett - and she likes it) just slays us. She is such a joy to have around and Charles and I laugh and say that she must have come from the milk man because she doesn't look like Carmen OR Dean. And she's doggone smarter than both of them (yeah, I'll go to a flea-bag rest home because I said that)....

We need to have a notebook and pencil ready when she's with us. The pics are of her new blouse and scarf. We did a "photo shoot" which she takes seriously as you can see.

Yesterday she said in a disgusting tone of voice, "Meem, I've gotta get my mom to shave my legs, see the hair on them?" We about choked on our ice cream!

We had just come from Lowe*s where she had admired the chandeliers... yep. Home lighting. She sighed and said, "I wish I was 15 and had my own place."

The other two granddaughters were given (by papaw and meem), a new pair of summer pajamas and their own bathrobe the first night at MeMe Camp. Their reaction to the new bathrobe? "A BATHROBE! I've ALLLLLLWAYS WANTED A BATHROBE!!!!"....... but I had not found one for Scarlett so I took her shopping Sunday afternoon - (something I don't normally do on Sunday mind you)..... and she found a peach colored one (ON SALE WOOPIE).... Doggone if we didn't turn around in the car when she said, "OH NOOOOO" while eating her ice cream, to see it spilled down the front of her new bathrobe. She had pulled it from the bag and decided to wear it back to the house. I cleaned it and she proudly took it to the shower last night, then modeled it for us. So cute!.

I was pretty tired and am having mega trouble with arthritis.... guess I'm at THAT age.... but I decided to make grilled cheese sandwiches on the stove griddle.... easy way out. No way was Scarlett eating a grilled cheese sandwich. Didn't like them. I begged her to just "try" a bite of a MeMe Camp grilled cheese sandwich. She agreed. We were at the end of the only loaf of bread in the house. MeMe and Papaw had our sandwiches.... and before I knew it, Scarletta had MY sandwich. She said she sure did like MeMe Camp grilled cheese sandwiches and wanted "more tomorrow."

Carmen-the-cook, I need to teach you how to make "Savannah's Spaghetti" and "Little Bit's Grilled Cheese Sandwiches"... ha ha ha ha...

After we ate, Scarlett watched a movie and then we read Robert Sabuda pop up books (her request and choice of books) in the swing in the sunroom.... then I read part of a fairy tale from the book that my dad gave to Carmen when she was six. I could tell that Little Bit was ITCHING to read so I gave her the second half of this long story to read. I was breathless as this little thing read aloud to me. I'm an excellent reader and she can read as well as I can read... and she's 7. I've never heard ANY 7 year old read like Scarlett can read. (a Meem CAN brag, too!!)

Got her to bed - Late. We get so excited with so much to do..... oh... we played a game, too.... that it's hard to find time to sleep! It probably should be no suprise that I'm having a "spell" with arthritis. I'll live.
