Sofas and Such....
Hard to believe 10 days have gone by already! We have been as busy as bees. After weaving the basket, Sum Sum, Papaw and MeMe (the Meem) took off to look for a sofa as per the last post. After 3 days and a LOT of looking at Tyson's (would have purchased but the thing was way too long and CT didnt' want to wait on a special order), Old Colony Furniture in Greenville, Ethan Allen (better prices than a couple of other stores we looked in), and one other big chain store that was the pitts, we settled on the sofa that Summerlyn and I found at Old Colony.... AFTER the first one I talked about turned out to have a green tint to it - olive - and olive goes with zero in my house and I have right much green. SO... we kept looking in that store and we found one. It is in the herringbone pattern that I loved so much in the one at Tyson's, and the color is smashing...
and the length is perfect. Summerlyn sat on it. "I like this one, Meem." Well I liked it too, so we bought it. No NC sales tax if they delivered it (for free). Sounds strange but we jumped on that.
When I first walked into this store, I thought, "What a joke." It was pricier than Tyson's and Ethan Allen.... but everyone is hurting right now and though they would "do better"' on a couple of sofas we looked at, they would not budge on this one. Still, the price is actually $700 less than the one we almost purchased, but still double the price we've ever paid for a sofa since we've been married. The fabric has a one inch band of suede around the bottom of the skirt - looks like "the look" I have gone for, for years, (Equestrian - couldn't you see me horse back riding??) and there is an ever-so-slight curve at the front. And I can lay completely down on it - YEA. Plus.... I was shocked when the salesman told me this has a double bed in it. It's a sofa bed. I would not have guessed that in a million years unless I had lifted a cushion. So more sleeping room to boot.
It was delivered Monday morning and as soon as the guys came through the door with it and sat it down, I knew we had made the right choice.
