Charles thought it was on the "warmer" side when he left the room this morning, but arrived at his meeting and someone spoke up saying "this is as warm as it gets over here today so enjoy it"... And sure enough by lunch time the temperature had dropped dramatically.Me? I slept until 9:00 - like a baby all night until 9:00. Ambien is wonderful when you need it. Got up, worked on email, blogging, wrote the first of several letters, and did various other things (including looking in every bag for my hair spray which I've evidently left at home)... My hair has been beyond pathetic.
At noon, I met Charles in the grill downstairs and we grabbed a chicken salad. That particular salad is DELICIOUS. We waited for our food for 40 minutes - did not complain - we were enjoying our conversation too much, but our waitress knocked off part of the bill because we waited so long! Anyway, just as we had started eating, one of the other EEs came over and wanted to chat with us. We enjoyed Elaine's visit and CT finished his salad, but I boxed more than half of mine up to bring back to the room.
Came
back, played secretary to Charles in removing some vital statistics off of a flash drive loaned to him by the state office, and got back to thank you notes. (People were very nice to us when we left CBC).He came back to the room at 5:00 to grab a book. Decided to stay over and review it with his group of EEs instead of having to do it in the room tonight when he's so worn out. Good move on his part.
I got myself ready to go out this evening and he was back in the room about 6:00. We left, printer in tow, to buy a usb cable and a couple of ink cartridges. My favorite printer is a little Cannon that I bought years ago. The black cartridge is around $8 and the color cartridge is around $17, and I can pack the thing in a small plaid duffle bag I bought in Landrum SC at an antique store several years ago, and take it anywhere. It isn't like the big bulky ones you have to buy today.... and it was less than $50 and Cannon doesn't make them anymore! So CT and I went to an office supply place beside of my favorite Marshall*s near our hotel. Got the stuff for the printer and I made a bee line for Marshall*s with a mission in mind.
The mission involves our 3 granddaughters. Carmen called this week and
wanted to talk with us about Summerlyn (the oldest) coming to spend two WHOLE weeks with us this summer.... said she and Dean think "it's time". Now why hadn't "I" thought of that? Of COURSE Summerlyn could come... in fact Papaw and I got so excited over it, we called Carmen back later to tell her some of the plans we're already making. I'm like a KID when it comes to these 3 granddaughters. Have already been collecting "stuff" for our next tea party which will be at the homeplace in warmer weather.Anyway..... Marshal*ls came through. I bought 3 of the cutest pairs of summer pajamas! Talked with Carmen again and we decided that Savannah and Scarlett would come for ONE week - separately - sometime this summer also. Anyway... Bought the pajamas from the ladies section, high end name brand, and they are "girly girly" with the wide lace trim.... one pair is in lite pink, another in lite green and Summerlyn's are a little different - a little more sophisticated in black and white.... darling and certainly not "too old" for these little gals. And the icing on the cake is that they were mark downs about 3 times over and were a mere $7 per pair.... retail on them was $76.00 by Oscar de la Renta. I was ecstatic. Also found a cake server with 4 darling little forks to add to our "tea party fare"... I'll post a pic.... and this was on sale for 75% off. I couldn't believe it. (Been having little tea parties with these gals since each one of them was in diapers. Now they request "tea parties". Makes Meme KNOW that we are making memories and I'm so thankful to God for the privilege!)
Also picked up one of the German Steinbach elves (they make the very expensive nutcrackers that you see at Christmas).... and this little fellow is a hand crank music box that works perfectly. He's missing an arm. No problem - I already know what I will do to fix it.... Price? $2.00! I can see Lukie turning the crank that plays Jingle Bells! It has a perfect tingly German-engineered Jingle Bell sound..... anyway, tonight was "bargain night" and I racked up!
Came back to the room with another Bar B Cutie sandwich out of desperation for something to eat, hooked up the printer, and ran off the 8 pages of info Charles needs for tomorrow.
Talked
We're thankful for this nice warm brand new room and beautiful view from the 17th floor! God IS good!
