Jonathan had the weekend off so he and I have been on a mission to outfit the new half bath... Ted has about talked me in to a vessel sink. We picked out a deep gray slate for the flooring and I'm planning to use an antique piece for the "cabinet" in there. We also purchased a nice commode..... But we've walked and looked and driven from Greenville, SC to Asheville, NC.... have been in a huge antique mall this weekend by the river in Asheville, just looking for anything else that might be available to hold this kind of sink. I can't bring myself to walk into Lowe*s and buy a standard bathroom sink and cabinet. I want a piece of furniture and love the little piece I have decided to use, but thought we might find a sink or faucet or even a different cabinet. Nope. Big bucks when you think of a half bath that will be more for "guests". We'll have 2.5 baths when we get finished.
Charles did not make it over this weekend. As it turned out, we had broken pipes throughout the boat, but no wet carpet because we had the water turned off and unhooked. He even had to take a wall of the shower out. The other guys down at the dock sympathized with Charles saying they've "been there" too. Charles was helping to bring in one of the big house boats to the dock on Friday when one of the guys noticed a neighbor's houseboat - larger than ours.... The back end was down in the water - broken pipes and water gushing into the hull. He went tearing off down the catwalk to call the guy because the boat was about to sink. This is a houseboat - with a hull full of water. We have been thankful MANY times that our houseboat is on two huge solid pontoons that will never fill with water. Still.... when the temp dropped to 3 degrees, even though CT had drained our pipes as much as he could, they froze at the joints and cracked so there was a LOT of repair work that had to be done this past week. He did well to be there by himself and thank the Lord he could stay at the boat and work on it rather than going to school one of those days last week.
I'm about ready for this remodeling to be OVER. I miss Charles and the boat. Never guessed I'd be missing in action from the boat for over a month when we came over on Christmas Eve.
Haven't had TV since Friday night. Don't even ask me what I think about Dish Network.
