Sixty-two hasn't slowed Charles down much at all. He does fall asleep in the recliner, but he did that at age 40. His perseverance is stronger than ever. He may be a little less patient, but hey - he's had to live with ME for 40+ years! His mind is sharp, his wit is right on, sense of humor checks out, and the boy loves to work.
We had a small (that coulda been big) disaster this morning at the house. Ted was working in the kitchen and I had just gone back to shut off the trickle of water that CT instructed me to turn on last night to keep the pipes from freezing. Not 5 minutes had gone by before Ted yelled through the house at Jason, "TURN THE WATER OFF NOW!!!"
Jason ran and turned the water off. A pipe in the new bathroom had popped loose and of course they were standing in water in there. Thankfully there was a hole where the pipe will come in to the bathroom sink (which we haven't purchased yet)and the water was draining through that hole. They swept the rest of it out and Jonathan and I took a couple of bath towels and dried the rest.
Jason sawed a hole through the outside of the house (and when they do the board and batten siding, will make a door type thing there in case we ever have a problem again. It will be a board and batten door so will match, but is located at a place on the house that people will not see anyway. Jonathan is outside fixing the plumbing right now. It's chilly out there, but not really cold like it was before lunch.
Charles got a big fat "A" for effort, but the pipe didn't hold together and the pressure was too much. It will be fixed in a few minutes and we'll go on.
I just talked with him - first time we haven't been together on his birthday and I hate it. It is ok if we don't do anything because we're always together and that's enough.... he will be back tomorrow evening and I'm looking forward to it. Lots of work to be done around here this weekend - oh - the granite will be here and installed tomorrow. I'm totally "jacked" over that! I've also made some progress in the boxes. May stay over one more week - I need to get the guest bedroom ready to set back up.... gotta paint, etc.
Jonathan to the rescue! The pipe is fixed and we're back in business, praise the Lord!
