This has seemed like the longest week! I know that being cooped up in a hotel room hasn't helped. I'm sitting here looking out the window at these beautiful woods as I type. Charles is in town buying a post for our mailbox, and Ted and Jason are here working on the kitchen and the living room floor. We are abuzz with activity around this old cottage! Ted said, "You KNOW you're going to have to have another Christmas party up here when this house is fixed.." You bet, Ted, but it won't be THIS Christmas!Jonathan called wanting to know where his dad is....He is at Lowe's without him, buying a mailbox post, is where his dad is, and is supposed to be buying the refrigerator but may have forgotten about it. Friendly the cat went with him - that should be interesting.
The new cabinets are here, but are stored in Ted's storage - today they will begin the new sheetrock. THAT will be awesome. More double walls - and that's a good thing. Building a raised hearth in the breakfast room for the gas logs in there. Ted asked if I'd rather have him finish the kitchen, or go outside and begin work on the board and batten on pretty days. That was a no brainer for me - finish the kitchen! So they will finish the kitchen - says it will take about 3 weeks.
The living room floor is LOOKING GOOD.... I told Ted and Jason this morning they were like Santa's elves.... I just wave a wand and there it is tied up in a bow. They grinned from ear to ear.
We probably won't be grinning when we see their bill.
