Praise the Lord!

We've known John and Jerrie for nearly 10 years. When we first met them, they were busy keeping up with three VERY active daughters. It was calender-keeping stuff so you'd know who was doing what, when. If we've had active teens, we know all about that kind of thing.

Then, Ellen, the middle daughter was tragically killed. The light nearly went out of their eyes. None of us could know unless we've walked there and I'll say right up front: I never want to walk there. The past few years have not been easy ones for them.

About 3 years ago Laura (oldest) got married - Charles and I were there - and 3 weeks ago Laura gave birth to the "first grandchild" - a little boy.

In communicating as we always do when CT and I are about to be in Nashville, JD said that he hoped we'd be able to come to the house to see the baby. We surely would - besides, this Meem had been baby-shopping and I know how to baby shop!

So yesterday when Charles left his meeting, he and I headed to M'boro.

When we arrived, baby bumpkin was feeding so we decided to go on and eat our dinner - Got Mrs. Harris (Jerrie's mom who is up from LA visiting) and the 5 of us went to Outback. Charles said as we were going in the door that the last time we were at Outback was with John and Jerrie. We don't go there often, in otherwords.

The meal was delicious, but CT and JD talked football and we three gals talked and talked and talked about life.... and antiques and babies... we had so much fun talking. Mrs Harris tats. Said, "I'm going to teach you to tat." I'm game. Told her about Mrs. Spell, our next door neighbor in Roseboro 31 years ago - a retired teacher who tatted a LOT. She tried to teach me (and I am good with handiwork), and it was a NO GO....Mrs. Harris would have none of that. She said, "You will learn right away." This lady is 90 years old and she gets around better than I do.

Came back to the house and walked over to Laura and Kevin's to see the baby. He is tiny - his due date was just yesterday but he was born 3 weeks early. I held him the entire time we were there. He is a beautiful little boy... just beautiful, and nothing do JD but to get his first tiny pair of boots to show us. They even had him dressed in a football onesie Sunday night when the Titans played. JD is just gone over him; Jerrie too - Grandparents..... and my point regarding the pic above.... Jerrie and JD are glowing. There is baby stuff in their house. New life. God has given them a grandson and that baby is a dozen steps from their back door so they have access to him most all the time.

We are tickled pink.... uh.... 'blue' for these good friends.
