Nothing Wrong With"High End" (as long as it's cheap!)
A day or so ago, I was raving about The Cabin Company and the great "finds" I've gotten from them... but I don't have pictures ... well, just found one of the plant ....and am on the boat.... Some of their furnishings I wouldn't have on a Christmas tree, but there are several lines that I just love. We stopped there again on Friday and I bought a Scottish tartan wool plaid blanket - on sale, of course. I also bought a big evergreen tree in a white birch planter for $26 .... and the owner and I both thought the price was wrong but he let me have it for that price. His wife (who wears the pants in the family, you can tell) was totally into another set of customers so the poor man was left on his own. The last time we were in there I bought a log headboard for the Spring House... the headboard, footboard and rails for that bed in the store were over $3,000... but they had broken the rail on one side of the bed and were just offering the headboard - $115.00. I was all over it. The Spring House is turning out to be real cabin-y... 100+ year old pie safe (Mom's mother's), etc. and my sis and brother-in-love are going to sleep up there over Labor Day weekend.
We've
also stumbled upon a place in Greenville and we just KEEP finding stuff from this high end consignment shop. The prices are a fraction of the actual cost of the items. It borders a section of town with big old expensive homes.... well, it's a real "find"... the kind of consignment (no clothes) shop you'd want to find - and set up beautifully on the inside.
We found the huge cupboard in there that sits in our living room... you can see it in the picture of the living room it's huge.... and the roll top desk that looks like it came off a ship, that will be in the 3rd bedroom/office... and this weekend while in Greenville, we went by there and they had gotten in a Ralph Lauren chair and ottoman (and whether it is RL or not, it's a steal) upholstered in tartan plaid - had come from an older couple's home they said, and it looks nearly brand new. The picture does not do it justice... the colors are very muted, not bright...Exquisite... and we got it for under $300. If you've checked ottomans lately they are several hundred dollars - well over $500.... so that's in the
living room - looks as if it were made to go with the new sofa. Over sized and by far the most comfy chair in our house. I sat in it Saturday night and went sound asleep. I'm sure we'll find our way back to this place over and again. Southern HOUSEpitality is the name of the store. Saturday the lot was full of Mercedes, Beamers and Jaguars. I'm only saying this to make a point - the wealthy of Greenville evidently shop at this place plus two poor souls from Gap Creek in NC... They certainly consign items. The place was overrun with shoppers on Saturday. I can see why. Just found their website: http://southernhousepitality.squarespace.com/
