Catch Up Time...

Yes things are a little on the crazy side right now, so I will go back in time and catch up.

Friday....

Got up and Charles, on his way out the door for his final meeting makes this statement: "Boy - we've HAD no clothes over here this week. What happened?"

For one thing, he has packed himself up for all of our married life - so I leave his clothes up to him. For another thing...he put the luggage in one of the storage units in town. That's great until you have a big trip on the calendar and you need it and can't get to it... And for the final thing: He didn't leave the house with much of anything, saying he had clothes at the boat. We stopped along the way and bought an inexpensive garment bag because NO he was NOT going to carry stuff in, in his bare hands.

Got to the boat and where were the clothes? He had one pair of pants and one shirt. Thankfully, TJ had stuff on a really great sale in Nashville, so I bought some shirts and a pair of pants. Excellent brands that would get him by in good fashion.

Anyway.... Friday morning he took "his stuff" down to the car when he got up.

A word about the car. It was stuffed - this new vehicle that we'd had for about 10 days. True... I was bringing all of the bed-clothing home from the lake and that takes up a lot of room.... but he had put a huge tire in the trunk along with a big storage box of "tools", so the trunk was all but full....and the back seat was nearly to the ceiling. EMBARRASSING. I took the king comforter from the boat and covered it all up in the back seat of the car, wondering if it was worth it to do it this way in order to not have to stop back by the boat to pick this stuff up on the way to NC.... Too late now...

So we added my stuff on top of all of the other and this was after I had waited for him to get out. I knew the last session would go over, but I waited in front of the hotel for an additional 45 minutes before he got out.

We headed out.

Ran by and picked up a drive-through lunch. Charles eased over into a service station parking lot to pull a cold soft drink from the cooler - hit the button on the car to take the back window down. Got the drink, but the back window would NOT go up.... 20 minutes of trying later and I told him we'd have to get a big piece of cardboard and some duck tape. Silver, mind you, to match the car!

We went to a Wal(Greens because it was nearby, got the tape and cardboard, and I cut out a cardboard "window". I was so disgusted. SOOOOOooooo put out. After 4 pieces of duck tape, Charles told me I probably had enough tape on there. Twenty pieces of duck tape later, I quit taping that window on.

Oh... Almost forgot.... We took the car from the service station to the drug store and realized that the wind would blow everything out of the back seat. Warmed my heart. No choice but to do cardboard.

Well now we looked like ridge runnin' hillbillies. Double embarrassed.

Charles went to crank the car and it wouldn't start. I was by then, looking up the number to the bus station. After several frantic attempts (frantic, because he didn't want to listen to my wales anymore), the car started and we got on our way.

We arrived back at our house in H'ville at midnight. Didn't unload a thing from the car. Showered, went to bed and FELL asleep. WHAT a day!
