MeMe Camp III

We haven't gotten done half of what we wanted to get done - like mosaics, scrapbooking, etc, but there has been no time. This place has been hopping and now it's time for another grandchild to stay a week with us.

Mom and Deb left on Friday morning and Carmen decided to stay until Saturday morning (much to Savannah's disappointment. She wanted them to leave as soon as they got here like kids will do). Last night we had probably the best fire we've had to date on the screened porch and roasted marshmallows. The kiddos loved it. Luke was just beside himself with glee. Nothing like a sugar fix that time of night.

I have been thrilled over the grands' response to the tree house. They have decorated it, placed the cushion and pillows up there, hung the string of lights and 3 lanterns, and have had a ball in that thing. Luke and Carmen read books up there yesterday afternoon and looked down the holes where the tree is growing thru the floor. One of the kids decided to spit through the holes and see it go to the ground or run down the tree trunk. It's funny what they think up to do. We've just told them that they MAY NOT get up on the rails because they will fall off and have to go LIVE at the hospital. No problem so far. Who wants to live at the hospital???

We've had a LOT of fun thus far. Savannah is with us for the next week. She wanted them all to leave yesterday (ya gotta love it). These kids know they get special princess treatment when they get with Meem and Papaw in the Summer time. Today was no exception for Savannah.

We lounged - and I do mean lounged - in pajamas until 3:00 this afternoon. In fact, I was up at 6 and was so tired by 11, I went back to bed. Savannah watched Sponge*bob on TV while consuming half a box of Cheese Nips and Coke and that was after she had finished off the 4th box of Cocoa Krispies that we've had in this house in 13 days, ....and Papaw worked around the outside the house.

At 3:15 we headed to Pisgah to eat on top of the mountain. Jonathan, Savannah, CT and me. Charles and I have not eaten up there since we went to Tennessee 7 summers ago. We arrived and while we were waiting for a seat and I had my back turned, someone came up and started tapping on my shoulder. I wheeled around to a hug from our friends Bobbie and Marc from FBC. Bobbie was in the SS class I taught for years at that church. Charles hired their daughter to teach @ North when the school was built and she is still there. We had a grand reunion with promises to get together soon.

We ate and then made our way out to Marshall's where Savannah and I shopped. She had latched on to a hideous long coral snake plush toy at the restaurant gift shop and we had a time talking her out of that thing. I reminded her that if she HAD to have that snake, that would be IT as far as shopping went for the night. So the snake stayed behind.

In Marshall's she purchased new jelly shoes - darling pink - and a "shower basket" in lime green, and a new brush and mirror to go in her basket. She was a happy camper! When we got back to the house, I presented her with her new summer pajamas and they were a perfect fit (and she loves them). But when I presented her with her own new long red bathrobe, she exclaimed in disbelief (that she would be the lucky recepient of a bathrobe) that she had ALWAYS wanted a bathrobe. She looks like a doll in it. Sent her to the shower looking like she was going to the spa.

She had ice cream with chocolate syrup after her shower, and then helped me put fresh eyelet sheets on the bed and said she felt just like a princess. I could have cried. Does it get any better than this?

Jonathan is leaving for Florida tomorrow to visit Joey, his good friend. He has a good vacation package with Lowe's. Will make it back home this next week in time to see Joann on Saturday.

I'm pooped and it is late.... gotta get to bed. Even the cat, Miss Friendly is pooped. Her schedule has gotten all turned around. I found that she had butted her head against the guest room door where my Mom had slept, until it opened, gone right in and spent the night in there by herself last night. I caught her in this pose this morning. Looks as if she made herself "right at home"...

Such a great day, thank You Lord!
