MeMe Camp Adventure... with a twist.....

Sunday afternoon Savannah and I worked on her "Visible Woman" model in our PJs. she in her new pinks on the sun porch .....offered a great opportunity to teach elementry anatomy... like, "here is where your elbow is... and here are your knees..." She is so "into" the human body that she watched her daddy slice open a sheep that died last week to see what killed it. I would have been gagging, but not Savannah. She was totally into it.

After we got the skeleton nearly assembled she headed to the car to retrieve something. She was wearing her new hot pink
something-a-jigga flip flops that she pur
chased Sat urday evening and no sooner had she crossed the front porch and started down the steps than I heard a blood curtling scream.

Of course I was up like a flash and ran outside. Poor little Savannah had fallen on the steps... scraped her arm and had landed on her back. There was a little red mark across her back but it never got worse than that - but it hurt something awful and she sobbed.

As I was hugging on her and checking to make sure nothing was broken, papaw walked up. He had been out
in the car..... and as he was approaching, we heard a loud noise from Miss Friendly who was right behind us on the front porch.

The next thing we knew, a big black snake was crawling up the cherry tree that grows through our front porch deck - exactly behind where Savannah and I were sitting on the steps. Miss Friendly hates snakes and was in a tizzy. Charles grabbed the broom and chased the thing up the tree..... it was NOT the
huge black snake we saw last week, but it was plenty big, and before it was over, that snake had carefully made its way across the front yard from tree limb to tree limb, never touching the ground. We were all enthralled as we watched and Savannah seemed to be quickly "cured".

Later
in the afternoon we went to Greer, SC.... ate.... and Savannah bought notebooks to write in from Tar*get. Her shopping worked up an appetite and this little gal ate 2 Happy*Meals!

We came back to the house and I showed her on the skeleton model, where she had hit on her back, and we both found it to be interesting. She showered and climbed in bed....she read books before she went to sleep. I set the alarm for the dentist appt. for 9:30 Monday morning with dread in my heart. I don't usually obligate myself to anything on Mondays. And by 9:30 I've been up long enough (lately) to be ready for a short nap.

One more day of life @ MeMe Camp.... and one more adventure.... and one thing for sure - the snakes are crawling..... Never a dull moment around here!
