Sunday Night... Monday Wee Hours....

We "ain't" as young as we used to be - for sure. Charles and I both are so sore! We used all but 5 pieces of flagstone - that's 1 ton - and made an area at the bottom of the steps in front of our house... which involved heavy lifting and moving..... it looks good but we feel like two old gray mares who ain't what they used to be.

Charles had to get away from all of this physical labor (ha ha) so he is back at the boat. Really.... he has to work at the high school this week. Then he has the month of July off and in August will be back doing something with the state dept. for this next school year, not sure which school. Hopefully the same one - test results have been nothing short of phenominal this past year. THEN he says he will retire... and I'll believe it when I see it.

He said that there was a heavy rain in progress when he walked into the marina. Said the big house boats had their owners on the front porches and they all cheered when he came through - saying that when he comes to the dock, he brings cool mountain weather with him. Ha! He called when he got out of the gorge on the Tennessee side - said it was 10 degrees hotter than it was in NC. Told me that he had never seen it rain as hard as it was when he got to the marina. Must've been a monsoon.

Anyway.... I'm here at the house finishing up the cleaning on the inside. We aren't finished, but there are odds and ends that have to be put away and windows to wash. The dining room/living room area echos. I've also been fighting yellow jackets trying to make a nest over the screened porch. I just open the window to my office that looks out on the patio and spray them with wasp and hornet killer. Just when I think I've won, a stubborn little thing comes back and brings a few friends. I've gotta win - they are crawling up under the metal roof right over the screen door. !!

I've been in the hot tub three times..... the first three times in over 2 years! I am going to use it more regularly. It makes my aching joints feel better, I think, even though I've set the temp. to 98 degrees instead of Charles' usual 104 degrees. It feels WONDERFUL!

It's late... I have a LOT to accomplish tomorrow. I have to finish painting iron furniture for the deck... also plant a few more things before they die.

We really like the flagstone - we looked a pictures of different ways to do it and decided we like the scattered pattern best for what we're trying to achieve looks wise. (rustic mtn. cottage)... It works. We can't walk on it until Tuesday.
