Charles arrived at the homeplace with dinner in hand for us tonight. It's so GREAT to see him - in 40 years of marriage, we have never been apart for this long. Yep - I'm a baby and the grown-up part of this isn't yet over. I've got to stay here and see this through for another few weeks... maybe.
Our baby Luke fell on someone's fireplace today and Carmen was in the ER with him for 4 hours... stitches in his little mouth and I'm thinking that must have hurt something awful. She said before she could get him out of the ER, he had popped them all and they had to be redone. I cried. Told Charles about it when he came in and he said, "I need to see the grandbabies." My thought exactly. That little boy has taken a beating since the week before his second birthday in December. Poor baby.
I have NEVER SEEN so much sheet rock dust. I can't get one area cleaned up until it's covered again, even with sheets hanging up to try to keep it contained. And I don't know why people who finish sheet rock don't have serious lung problems.
I ordered the hanging light to go over the bar on Monday where we used to have another kind of light. It was delivered today. Jason wanted out of that sheetrock dust for a little while and got right on the light - It is GREAT! Beyond my expectations.
Charles came in tonight and I had the gas logs going in the kitchen. The guy hasn't been here in 10 days and he was absolutely blown away. It is beautiful in there. When the cabinet comes in and the pot rack gets hung, I'll post some pics of the finished kitchen. WAY FAR beyond my expectations. We've got to shop for some bar chairs soon - don't even know where to begin yet. Gotta get 3 for sure, maybe 4. The kitchen is turning out to be so cozy, I may sit my wing chair in there in the corner by the fire. We'll try it there and see if we like it. Gotta get rid of some furniture for sure though.
Depending on how cold it is tomorrow, CT and I are planning to go and rent another storage unit. We need a safe place to put the "stuff" still in this house. I've been frustrated this week because there is no place to store anything right now, or move anything already stored to another place so we can work in here. So it's all going out in hopes that we'll have boxes sorted through in warmer weather and drop back to one small storage unit and finally no storage unit. Jonathan and I plan to load the truck tomorrow morning while CT is in town unloading the van. All of this while the guys are laying tile in the bathroom. Should be interesting.
Gotta get to bed....
