Friday.... Busy Day on the Homefront...

We were up early in order to greet the crew-of-two at 7:30 and they were here and raring to go. Worked on the half bath - laid tile and installed a door to a closet. They called it quits at lunch and left for the weekend. We didn't mind a bit because we needed the entire house without them here in order to move "stuff" out.

CT went to our storage unit this morning and rented another unit right across from our first one. Then came to the house and we loaded three loads for starters and took them up there - didn't make a dent in the place, thankfully. We plan to work all day on Saturday to fill up that place. THEN we'll work to get the house back in order. Ted says the kitchen will be finished next week.

As we were getting ready to take the first load, we looked for the cats. They were outside running up and down trees, but it was getting really cool by then. We found Puss 'N Boots and took him inside, but could NOT find Miss Friendly, finally gave up, got in the van and began backing down the driveway. Heard a Meow, and there she was sitting on top of one of the storage boxes in the vehicle! We deposited her inside the house and left.

We made a trip to Etowah to the fireplace shop this afternoon where we bought our Vermont Castings 10 years ago..... had a repairman out this past week to replace the pilot assembly on the stove to the tune of $344.00. Then we decided that the remote isn't working right.... so we bought a new one this afternoon - $175.00. They gave us a number to call about the old one and suggested we call it before unpacking the new assembly - and if the manufacturer can talk us through getting the original one to work, just bring the new one back for a refund. They congratulated us for buying one of the safest gas log free standing stoves on the market. Said we could put it on thermostat and leave the house to "winter in Florida" and that stove would keep the house warm safely while we were away. That's a good thing to know!

We were starving by then and grabbed a hot dog mid afternoon and decided to not get out in the cold to drive down the mountain to Stax tonight. Stayed right here and ate nachos by the gas logs in our jammies. It is so doggone cold out there, we were glad to not be on the road. The Greek Baked Chicken will wait for another evening!

Tyler called tonight. Twice - and talked about school and college. Don't know what that boy is going to end up doing. It's always good to hear from our Ty.

Falling asleep, going to bed. Charles is sacked out! Miss Friendly is sleeping nearby!
Nite Nite....
