Just talked with Carmen. Everyone except Luke is OK - pretty much back to normal. Just going to have to watch Luke. He is on a med for anti-nausea that they give to children taking chemo. Must be strong. His daddy took him outside for a few minutes and when they came inside, the boy was wiped.... went to bed and went to sleep.
Well, everyone is NOT ok except Luke... Summerlyn has it now. I talked with her earlier and asked how she escaped.. "Tell us your secret." She decided it was washing her hands in hand sanitizer all the time. Then later it hits her. I think nothing would prevent a person from getting whatever strain this one is.
Back to yesterday..... Friday....
Charles made an executive decision with me semi-protesting. This house is a total wreck. It was better than it is now, the last visit we made here. In fact, we had every intention of unloading part of the storage unit and setting up the living room/ dining room this weekend. Can't happen yet.
We are in the process of getting old appliances out of the way and getting the new ones in. Our new refrigerator was delivered this morning and the old one had to be moved out of the way to make room. The old one still runs pretty well, so it is going in a storage shed to hold drinks, etc.... The stove was delivered last week, and Lowe's has a carry-off service but we kept thinking SOMEONE could surely use the old Jenn-Air that we can't get parts to. Nope. So they hauled it off with them this morning.
Yesterday, Charles decided that he wanted his good bed back and there was no stopping him from having it.... so.... I vacuumed the carpet again, took the queen bed apart that is going to the spring house, and had the room cleared out of what little was in here. He and JET went to the storage unit and brought the bed to the house.
We had the bed set up on no time. It is more beautiful in this room than I thought it would be - we have it caddy corner. Takes up a lot of space. I think we'll try the high-boy in here - they've gone to get it now - and a chair or two, and that will be IT for this room. But with the fireplace raised, it's easy to lie in bed and enjoy the gas logs. Charles said he slept like a dream last night. He sleeps like that on the boat too. (I think it's the featherbeds).
So we have one room set up. That's ok, we love gathering in this room with the gas logs on... toasty warm. We have a brain-storming session with Jonathan every night for at least a little while before he goes home. It's the "newness" of having us back. We know it won't continue - the boy is too busy for us (and that's ok, too)
Ted says that we'll be able to "cook in the kitchen on Christmas Eve", but the granite will not be here for the countertops yet.... will have to wait another few days for that.
LOTS to do, still, but we are looking forward to it.
Leaving this afternoon for the boat - SS at Central tomorrow - final gathering with my gals in Tennessee. I don't even want to talk about it. I hope I don't cry. Again.
We're leaving now.... hanging the wreath on the gate as we leave, so I'll post a pick tonight.
