Polar Express ~ Part III

We arrived in Bryson City and took a few minutes to drive around and get our bearings. Not much to this quaint little mountain town, but there seemed to be more than the last time we were there...we saw several cute shops and a doll of a country store - and plenty of people bustling with Christmas spirit.

We had thought we might let the girls shop for some little souvenir to take home, thinking that since this is the village of the seasonal excursion of the Polar Express, surely the merchants would be prepared. NOT!

Started with "Vanna".... I would tackle this, one granddaughter at a time and Savannah was first. It would get easier as we went along.

Glory, I should have known better!!

We walked into this upscale shop where I explained the "no more than $10" limit and we browsed and looked and picked up everything in there (and this was not your normal "trinket" shop - it was all upscale.) Savannah latched onto a grizzly bear. She was having IT or nothing and IT was $20.

Well if you know MEME, you know I was going to win that one and we WEREN'T going out of there with a $20 grizzly bear. We huffed and puffed and I headed for the door just in time to meet Summerlyn coming in. Papaw had sent her to see if Savannah and I were still alive, and TIME WAS UP, we had to get to the train station. We'd have to finish this later. Fine with me.

NOT fine with Savannah, she wanted that grizzly and she was becoming one.

I told them that THIS was not the store with the good stuff, and we may have to save shopping for another trip. That seemed to settle everyone but Vannah who had her arms folded and her bottom lip out. Give me a break. I had FOUND a little grizzly for $7.95 in that store but it was the $20 one or nothing.

On to part IV..... (I'm milking this for all it's worth. It was an expensive venture. Add the food on to the tab and it was a week's groceries. Add tips and it was more than we used to spend on Santa Claus.)
