We had a GREAT day at church today. It was so GOOD to see my SS gals again. One walked into the room (after our not meeting for the past 3 weeks) and ask teasingly, "Now do we need name tags in here this morning?"..... it DID seem like a long time and for a SS class, it WAS a long time.
Good lesson, and did I say how good it was to be together again?? My SS gals are good friends.
Church looked like a scatter gun had gone through it. I was wondering where everybody WAS this morning. A gal came up and commented on the devotionals I had written for OW. I didn't comment to her about this, but it's going to be awhile before I write OW again. New editor who is going to properly rotate the writers so that more have opportunity to write. I was extremely blessed to get to write like I have in past years. Assignments were for the most part for 5.... Woody would give me 10... and I could go on and on.... but the bottom line is "rotate writers"..... I have to believe that is God's will right now, but I wonder how much of my brain will still be working in another year or so when I'll be "up" to write again. Was offered an assignment to write an article. Declined it. I've done that before but that isn't my forte'.
Ran by the store - something we used to not do on Sundays but we put that idea down when gas prices went up, let's be practical and let's be good stewards of the $ with which God has entrusted us.
Anyway...... I had decided to try a new recipe - radical for me these days. It's a crock pot recipe for pork tenderloin..... got rave reviews..... calls for WINE in the recipe. I looked for Wine - even walked through the BEER and WINE section, a REAL new trick for me..... (and all I can say is all of those little bottles were colorful and I don't even know what was in them, I've never seen little bottles like that).... anyway... WEIRD section of the grocery store. I made a second round and NEVER saw anything that looked like those wine bottles in spaghetti restaurants that used to sit on the table with candles in them back in my high school days. So I don't know where the wine was, but we WON'T be having it in this recipe.
Came back to the boat.... that gangplank is really steep now.... 10 sections are going downhill (where last year this time it was 13 sections)......
We just heard something outside somewhere on the dock that sounded like gun shots....(I dare to put this in here with my Mother reading my blog).... Superman CT went out to see - you know, to "stop a speeding bullet" and all that. Nothing........except it's cold out there.
Anyway.... came back to the boat, fixed lunch, borrowed an ethernet cable from Tony and Kathy in the boat across from us to wait for DE(LL to call back at 4:00 today (it's 7:42 and they have yet to call back) and CT settled in for his ballgame (s) and I went to bed. I was in my "bag lady clothes" that I wear around here all the time (without apology), and as soon as I hit that bank of pillows on our bed, was sound asleep.
Three hours later Charles awakened me as he was heading out to feed the cats up on Lakeshore. The boat was so toasty warm and the wind was up outside... sun going down..... lakewater moving pretty swiftly by our boat.... and I saw the poor frozen fishermen coming in OFF the lake who dared to go out there earlier in the day. I was VERY glad to be inside.
We thank God for our little live-aboard all the time.
