Tried to post several times, but have such a horrid internet connection at this hotel that I'd lose what I had typed. And by the way - the bed slept better with the mattress turned around. CT said this afternoon that another consultant said their bed was awful too, but that this hotel is getting ready to begin a multi-million dollar rennovation. I hope they fix the internet; I'm sure they'll fix the beds!
I ended up reading a lot of Beth Moore today. What she has to say is "spot on" as the English put it. I didn't even get a nap - was headed that way when CT came through the door with a sack full of food from the Italian Restaurant - Maggiano's - that they had dined at for their Christmas luncheon. The waiter had taken food from their platters and had made me 3 boxes of the yummiest looking stuff I've seen lately... and sent it free of charge. Very nice! I took only nibble bites of several of the things, didn't go near the huge piece of layered chocolate cake... and we pitched it all. No place to keep it in the hotel room. I had never seen or dined on any of this stuff before but what I had was delicious. God is good!
Was still reading when CT finally got back to the room, but he still had work to do. The entire group of consultants is "grading" the school improvement plans from schools all over the state. It is long grueling "head" work and has to be completed by lunch on Thursday. He left to go meet one of the guys so they could get some more work done. Finally he made it back to the room.
We headed out to Brentwood to the TJ out there and the Mar*shall's. Beautiful area to shop. Out where Sam Boyd is pastor (our former pastor in Hendersonville)... out where the beautiful mansions with the coach lanterns and entrance gates are located. We drove around Sam's church and wondered how he and Carolyn are doing. Haven't heard anything lately.
Hummm... I thought about this and was right on the mark... This ritzy area is shopping where other areas are sparce... bet the pickings will be slim in my two favorite stores. They were. Brentwood had come and gone and those two stores had the least good Christmas pickings of any of the ones we've shopped in, this trip over.
We got a salad and headed back to the hotel. Totally tired.
We leave tomorrow - plan to run by the boat and check on things and then head straight for H'ville. Talked with Jonathan today. He called. Has found a stainless steel refrigerator he wants us to look at. OK. So we've added that to our list of things we have to do this trip over.
Did I say we are tired? I'm not complaining. Did I say God is good? He is!!
