Back to Last Weekend....

If my blogging first of all weren't for posterity, I wouldn't be doing this. But since I want a "record" for a time when my children will actually CARE what went on - like when they're my age and I'm no longer around, I'll back track.

We love driving up into Virginia - Tish, what a BEAUTIFUL state! And Abingdon is one of numerous "favorites" for us. We usually see a little snow when we go up that way for Christmas, but we didn't see a flake this time. Stopped to go in my favorite antique shop near the Barter Theatre, and ate at our favorite deli, then we were on our way again. I think I've already told you all of this.... I'm typing this on Dec. 26 and you will understand my absence of mind in a later post.

Arrived at Mother's in the afternoon - in fact took in BBQ for supper, as has been our new tradition since Daddy died in 02. It was good to be home in the house I lived in as a child... or since 3rd grade..... Mother looked good - she always does, I can only hope I weather as well... but we've all aged a little and can't stay up until midnight like we used to do, catching up, when we first get home, so we went to bed.

Up on Saturday and I worked like a beaver on the scrapbook from the beach trip. I'll have to say, it's an AWESOME scrapbook.... stories in it that just leave us in stitches over that trip. It wouldn't be "our gang" if we weren't laughing over SOMEthing.... but I was not finished with that book and Mother warned me that it was NOT leaving her house so I'd best finish it this trip.

In the afternoon, we put everything down to drive out to Debbie and Jim's house - my sis and hilarious brother-in-law. Jim does the finest steaks on the planet and we rarely eat steak, so it's our #1 request when we have a meal with them. We werent' disappointed. They melted in our mouth.

Exchanged gifts and that was fun..... and left to come back into Winston-Salem. I picked up the scrapbooking again and finished at 4:30 A.M. on Sunday morning.

We drove to Hendersonville to check on the house. Saw that there was NO WAY Ted would have us as far along as he first thought and the mess was incredible.

Came back to the lake. Jonathan decided to spend the next couple of nights with his sister. Those two are close and we're so thanful for that - and it's "on" when they get together. Ah... peace and quiet for CT and me. We came to the houseboat and fell in bed, but not before I made three "tickets" for the adventure we were to take the girls on, the next day.... Monday, Dec. 22.
